Benny H. Street, age 84, of Ellenboro, NC, died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born June 22, 1930 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Dewey Street and Julia Wease Street. Benny worked for Stonecutter Mill for over thirty-five years before retirement and was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church. He enjoyed travelling with his wife and with the church senior group. Benny loved mowing grass and working in the garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ada Davis Street; sister, Mary C. Street and three brothers, Robert, Clyde and Rev. Carl Street.
Survivors include his wife, Lois R. Street; daughter, Linda Street McSwain of Ellenboro; brother, Herman Street; sister, Eunice Street Davis; two grandchildren, Chad McSwain and wife, Barbara and Kristi McSwain and fiancé, Scott Morrison; three great-grandchildren, Charlie Morrison, James McSwain and Savannah McSwain; a number of nieces and nephews which includes a special niece, Peggy Self Scott. He is also survived by step-daughter, Donna Fox of Mooresboro; three step-grandchildren, Gina Fox Maness, Penny Fox Ingle and Kyle Fox; nine step-great-grandchildren, Haley McSwain, Paige Jolly Bumgarner, Jonathan Maness, Kayla Fox, Tristan Maness, Keaton Maness, Cody Fox, Katie Fox and Austin Granger and one step-great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014 at Liberty Baptist Church with Reverend Owen Duncan officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
