Bette Giles Adams Kendrick

Bette Giles Adams Kendrick, age 89, died Friday, June 3, 2016 at Carolinas Healthcare Cleveland. Born in Bowling Green, SC on October 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Giles and Belle Lewis Adams. Bette grew up a member of Bowling Green Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green and later became a member of First Baptist Church in Shelby after she married her husband of 60 years, Lum Kendrick. Bette was the owner and designer of Kendrick Interiors, where she decorated many homes in Shelby and won many awards for her designs. Bette enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time at the beach.

Bette is survived a daughter, Sue Kendrick DeCuzzi of Salisbury; a son, John M. Kendrick, Jr. and wife Jan of Shelby; a sister, Mary Parler of Columbia SC.; grandchildren, Amy Hope Mann of Roanoke Rapids, NC and John Adam Kendrick of Cincinnati, OH; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Susan Bell Mann, and two great grandsons.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Tony Tench officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
