Betty A. Moore, 83, of Elgin, IL, passed away on Sunday Morning, September 16, 2012 at her home.  Betty was born in Blacksburg, SC on September 21, 1928.  She was the daughter of the late Carl H. & Sophie (nee Shillinglaw) Whitesell.  On April 7, 1950 she married Benjamin R. “Ben” Moore.  Betty was a resident of Illinois for the past 52 years and a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church of Elgin, IL.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years: Ben; son, Charles (Pamela) Moore of Hampshire; grandchildren, Seth (Jaime), Benjamin (Laura), Eli Moore and Madeleine (Christian) Boutan; great grandchildren, Saley, Malone, Hadassah and Calvin; sister, Barbara Jean Whitesell Allen of Williston, SC; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Whitesell, and her sister, Carolyn Robbs. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Shelby, NC.  The Rev. Mark Patchett will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery in Shelby.  Visitation will be held from 11:00am – 1:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
