Betty Alexander Beheler, age 75, of Forest City, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Forest City Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born October 7, 1939 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Major Ross Alexander and Lila Mae Blackwell Alexander. She was a graduate of Harris High School, class of 1958 and a longtime member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Betty worked most of her life for Burlington Industries and Cone Mills. She enjoyed gardening, canning and also enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was a hard worker and dedicated to her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-six years, Ray L. Beheler.
Survivors include son, Michael Beheler and wife, Catherine; daughter, Angelia Putman and husband, Lynn; three sisters, Evelyn Gowan, Doris Dills and husband, Daniel, Kaye Cantrell and husband, Ron all of Forest City; three brothers, Joe Alexander and wife, Cindy, Jerry Alexander and wife, Mary Ruth, Johnny Alexander and wife, Patti all of Forest City. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at three o'clock on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the New Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Stephen Matheny officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church auditorium immediately following the graveside service. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service time at the church.
