Betty Boone Melton, age 92, of Bradley Road, Ellenboro, died Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born on April 18, 1923 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Oscar Boone and Rosie Hayes Boone. She was a homemaker who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Betty worked in textiles for several years and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and dancing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Melton; granddaughter, Morgan Cierra Bristol; three brothers, Jack, Mack and Clark Boone; three sisters, Alice "Tib" Weese, Tiny Head and Frances Painter.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Melton and Chris Melton and wife, Cindy all of Ellenboro; two granddaughters, Christy Ledbetter and husband, Josh of Forest City and Kim Robbins and husband, Joe of Charlotte; two great-granddaughters, Addy Ledbetter, Sadie Robbins and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ad Hopper and Reverend Scott Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at 247 Bradley Road, Ellenboro.
Memorial donations are suggested to the charity of choice.
