Betty Jane Beam Farnsworth, 508 Greenville Avenue, Carolina Beach, NC, passed away on November 4, 2012. She was born April 28, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Buford Ray and Minnie Morrow Beam, of Cherryville, NC.
Betty was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Cherryville, NC, and after retirement to the coast, a charter member of Water of Life Lutheran Church, Wilmington, NC. She graduated from Tryon School, Bessemer City, NC and Lenoir Rhyne College, Hickory, NC. She was employed by Kings Mountain Mica Company and Bradington-Young Furniture Company, Cherryville, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Dean Farnsworth and her brother, Dr. Lewis Ray Beam.
She is survived by her children: Sherry Brookshire and husband, Earl of Kure Beach, NC, Stephen H. Farnsworth and wife Roxanne of Vale, NC, and Gay Parker of Carolina Beach, NC. Grandchildren: Leanne Womack of Kure Beach, NC, Brian Womack and wife, Tammy of Vale, NC, Lauren Parker and Jack Parker of Wilmington, NC, Great Grandson, Austin Womack of Vale, NC.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1 PM at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cherryville, NC with Rev. Rachel Connely officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from noon – 12:45 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, Cherryville, NC.
