Betty Jean Mullinax Parker
Betty Jean Mullinax Parker, 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. She was born at home in the Antioch Community of Cherokee County on May 15, 1929. She was the daughter of Jesse James (Jack) Mullinax and Viola Bolin Mullinax. She formerly worked in textiles. She loved spending time with her family, working in her flowers, and going to church. She was a member of Grover Church Of God.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Turner; her second husband, Howard Parker; a daughter, Margaret Jean Norman; a granddaughter, Kimberly Norman; and sisters, Wilma Lovelace and Mildred Martin.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Roy Turner, Sr. and David Turner both of Blacksburg; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Blue Ridge Healthcare/Brookview House for their love and devotion.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 2-3:00 PM, at White Columns Funeral Service, with A Celebration Of Life Service beginning at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.
Pallbearers serving are Dean Turner, Mark Cole, Nick Green, Jake Green, Kyle Freeman and Daniel Rushing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
