Betty Jo Mauney Smith, age 85, resident of Kings Mountain, died February 4, 2015 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. She was born in Newton, NC, daughter of the late Loy Daniel and Mollie Frye Mauney. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant son and daughter, daughter Lorri Smith Henson, 2 sisters, Ruby Rozzell and Cirella Mauney and 3 brothers, Loy Daniel Mauney, Jr., Gus Mauney, and Jimmy Mauney. She was retired from Burlington Industries in Kings Mountain and a charter member of First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain to which she was very faithful.

SURVIVORS: Husband of 67 years: John Robert "Bob" Smith, Kings Mtn.

Son: John Robert Smith, II, and wife Twyla, W. Jefferson, NC

Sister-in-laws: Dot Mauney, Cary, Helen Mauney, Newton, Pat Mauney Morris, Clemmons, NC

Grandchildren: Matthew Henson and wife Kayla, Kayla Smith and Julie Smith

Great Grandchild: Kendall Henson.
