Betty M. Blanton, age 89, of Cliffside, NC, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, August 2, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Betty was born December 22, 1929 in Rutherford County to the late Joseph William Wise and Maude Huntsinger Wise. She was a graduate of Tri-High School worked for Cone Mills for thirty years. Betty was a long time and faithful member of Cliffside Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for over forty years. She was an avid reader and loved her family dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Herman Blanton; son, Morris Blanton; grandson, Shannon Blanton; granddaughter, Amita Burgess; three brothers and five sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Joe Wayne Blanton and wife, Debra of Ellenboro and Ricky Blanton and wife, Debbie of Cliffside; four grandchildren, Shane Haney, Heather Toms (Virgil), Jeff Burgess, Jacob Blanton; ten great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Cliffside Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Elgin officiating. Interment will follow in Cliffside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
