Betty Ray Newton Peeler
 Mrs. Betty Ray Newton Peeler, 78, of 114 Largo Drive, Casar, transitioned to
heaven  Friday, November 4, 2011 at Kings Mountain Hospice House with family
by her side.

She was born in Cleveland County on December 31, 1932 to the late Joseph
Clyde Newton and Mittie Mozelle Buff Newton.

She was a graduate of Casar High School where she was voted Miss Casar High
for two consecutive years and also the most popular in her graduating class.
She was also a member of the school's basketball team.

She retired in 1992 from Cleveland Regional Medical Center where she had
worked as their information desk receptionist.  She was a member of Clover
Hill United Methodist Church. 

She was a patient of Healthy @ Home until her declining health required that
she move to Kings Mountain Hospice House.  During her stay she received
excellent palliative care and made many friends.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband,
Kenneth Edward Peeler and two brothers, Billy Newton  and Bobby Newton. 

She is survived by a son, Todd Peeler of Shelby; a daughter, Bev Sauder of
Adairsville, Georgia and a grandson, Kyle Williams, who is a 1st Lieutenant
Naval Aviator with the United States Marine Corp.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2011 at
Stamey Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home
chapel at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Cecil Buff will be officiating.  Burial will
follow in the church cemetery.
