Betty Sipe Cornwell, age 90, of E. Main Street passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at Carolina Care Center. She was born January 30, 1926 in Gaston County to the late Charlie Lee and Carrie Carpenter Sipe. She was retired from People's Dry Cleaners and also worked at First Baptist, Cherryville National Bank and Wix. Betty was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 156, of Cherryville. She enjoyed camping and traveling alongside her late husband, Charles.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Charles Rash Cornwell; and brothers, Harold J. Sipe and Maurice Sipe.
She is survived by nephew, Larry (Brenda) Sipe and Randy Cornwell of Lincolnton and numerous other Nieces and Nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM at the church.
