Betty Sue Callahan Gantt Mauney, age 84 died Thursday January 21, 2016 at her home. Born in Cleveland County on January 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Robert Wesley and Lora Ida Wilson Callahan. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Betty retired from Kemet after a number of years of service. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Benny (Sarge) Gantt; a brother, Lorne Callahan; and three sisters Barbara Thornburg, Beatrice Wheelus, Minnie Lou Winn,
Betty is survived by two sons, Ty Gantt and wife Diane and Phil Gantt and wife Jackie all of Shelby; a daughter, Kathy Gantt of Shelby; two sisters, Irene Greene of Boiling Springs and Daphine Hamrick of Shelby; three grandchildren, Tiffini Hovis, Tammy Gattt and Ben Gantt; and a great grandson, Trevor Hovis;
The family would like to thank her friend and caregiver, Kathie Paquette for the wonderful, loving way she cared for Betty.
A private service will be held at a later date.
