Betty Toney Sandefur, age 80, of Calton Road, Sunshine, NC, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born December 20, 1933 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Greeley H. Toney and Alice Campbell Toney. Betty was a homemaker and a charter member of Ross Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and especially loved taking care of her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Talley Sandefur; her sister, Merle Dunkle and five brothers, Fred, Grady, Earl, Hermon and Frank Toney.
Survivors include daughter, Wanda Young of Sunshine; son, Ricky Sandefur and wife, Glenda of Middlesex, NC; brother, Ralph Toney of Sunshine. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Chuck Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Timothy Ormand, Matthew Sandefur and Brittany Pearson; eleven great-grandchildren, Justin Jackson, Megan Jackson, Anthony Jackson, Sierrah Jackson, Mikayla Brooks, Kelsea Jackson, Jasmine Doster, Talley “Crew” Jackson, Hunter Wood, Zoe Sandefur and Elijah Pearson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Ross Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Earl Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
