Beulah Mae Powell departed this life on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Sands Point Center for Health Rehabilitation, in Port Washington, New York.

Born on July 2, 1935, to the late William and Lina Mae Durham Powell. In 1955, Beulah graduated from Green Bethel High School.

She eventually relocated to New York, where she worked as a domestic engineer until her retirement. Beulah enjoyed shopping. She might spend all day shopping and return home empty-handed. On holidays, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as well as contacting and checking on "Sammie" and his pets, Ginger and Jackie. She was a highly sociable person who never met a stranger.

In addition to her parents, Beulah was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia L. Powell and her brother, Willie Powell.

Left to cherish her fond memories are her devoted son Samuel Lee Powell of Shelby NC, three step grandchildren, Lisa Bostic and Terry Fullenwider of Lawndale, NC, and Robbin Haynes of Shelby NC. Special cousins Dr Edward D. Brantley of Greenville SC, Teresa Brantley of Black Mountain, NC, Jacqueline Barns, and Darrell Brantley of Shelby, NC. Special friends Ruby Surratt of Shelby NC, Jill Marcus of Port Washington, New York. Goddaughter Delores Hunt, of Kings Mountain NC and many more cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Cherryville, NC. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloemortuary.com.
