Bible Study: Are You Ready To Pray?
In the Bible, we often read how people would look around them and see they were in trouble. They knew that only God could overcome that trouble. So, they prayed and God answered.  Simple, huh?  But if we are so much more educated than the people of that day, why can we not see why things are happening like they are today? We need to pray and we need to pray without ceasing. Sin has always been and will continue to be “trouble” until our Lord splits the eastern sky like the sun coming out on a cloudy day!  When that day comes, it will be too late to pray.
Sin is on the warpath and too many are satisfied that way. We are told that every third baby born in America is born out of wedlock. Sexual immorality, divorce, drugs, child abuse, theft, etc. It’s all rampant today and it’s being tolerated.  Our children are taught that if society says it’s okay, then it’s okay. Not so!  If it’s not okay with God, then it’s definitely not okay!  Some don’t want the preacher to join the church and others say a preacher doesn’t have to be born again?  What?  It’s time to wake up! Just like the people of Bible times, we need to be on our knees before an Almighty God. In Bible times, when rain was needed, they prayed and God delivered. You might say that you have prayed and God did not deliver. Check your heart! Do you have unconfessed sin in your life? Your prayers must come from the heart to be heard and the heart must be free of sin. Lip words, by themselves, do not get God’s attention. David cried out to God all night before he got the attention he needed.
God wants to fill you with His Holy Spirit. He wants to bless your life and heal your land. But He wants you to come to him with a humble heart, confessing your sin and ready to be used for His purpose. Are you ready to pray? It’s the only way to get out of the trouble that sin has inflicted on our lives.
