Bible Study: Are You Right Toward God?
There are parents that are able to give their children everything money can buy. They take their children on great vacations. Not much sickness shows up, just a happy, wealthy family. The children all move off, and age creeps up on them. One day a preacher comes by to visit them. He gets them to thinking about what they have been leaving out of their lives. He asks them if they are saved or not, and they said yes. The man says “we have enough in the bank to do us”. The preacher says, you are building the wrong way. How about your living soul. Where will it be in eternity?” All your riches will be done away with. The lady starts to cry, and the man is brought down. He tells the preacher he is glad he came by. The preacher asked them if he could pray with them. As the preacher prays, he could hear each one of them praying. They told God that they had been fools to just want money and not to have helped others along the way and they realized they could not take anything with them when they died. They asked the Lord to give them another chance and that they would do right toward their children and others. With a change of heart these two old people realized that they didn’t have long to do good here on this earth because of their age. The preacher told them smiling, “you will do yourself a favor to get a King James Bible and turn to Luke 12:15, which says “And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” Then he told them to read the rest of chapter 12.
