Bible Study: Hope
Those of us who speak the English language use the word HOPE very recklessly. The Bible does not do so. 1 John 3:3 says speaking of Jesus “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Education says not so. We sin every day and night. The Lord forgives us of our many sins. 1 Peter 1:13 says: Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Prov. 14:32 says The wicked are driven away in their wickedness, but the righteous has hope in his death. The righteous confesses what his Lord and savior has done for him. In favor, his Lord grants him the ticket to Heaven, namely salvation. No salvation, no Heaven.
Paul wrote in Colossians that Christ in us is our hope of glory. He also wrote, “For the hope which is laid up for you in Heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel”  - Colossians 1:5. It is a true saying and you have probably heard it many times. Sin lies at the door of the wicked. But never at the door of the righteous and holy. Why is this true? One that granted Lucifer his wish but limited his power, is master of all. Well glory. We have heard and sung the song. My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and His righteousness. If by some loss of a loved one or other, look up Psalm 42:11. Why art thou cast down, O my soul? Why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God, for I shall yet praise him. Who is the health of my countenance and my God. The writer has explored the word hope for the reader and much more can be said. Read this over a couple times and ask your Lord to help you. If you ask from the heart, He will.
