Bible Study: Who Guides the Church?
The Deacons, Board Members, Stewards, Sunday School Superintendants. If they are lazy or just don’t know how, they blame it on the preacher. The Preacher is supposed to lead in the right direction the ones you bring into the church. Having time to visit can help a little. Setting goals for your attendance is a good way to start. If the Preacher can not hold them when you bring them in, then get another Peacher called by God or get in another denomination. You must visit and have something to sell yourself, to the people you visit with. Speak of what is preached in your church which you are representing. If you can testify to them, that helps and your Saviour has something to bless when you are gone. No foolish talk, get that over with at the start. Stay on the track and let them know at once who you are and what your purpose of visiting. Let them know right off hand that you would like to have them in your church. Then give them a chance to say something whether they are going to church somewhere or not. Ask them if they would like to visit your church sometime and head on to the next place. It is good to have a small Testament in hand, finger turned to a certain place, where you can read it very quickly if needed. Then if the one you visit does not go to any church, have last week’s bulletin to show them. Stress that they are very welcome regardless of the number you have. If you are as timid as some are, practice with a family member. Get a newspaper and look at it and explain what you see to your family. That will help you gain confidence in yourself, and you will be coached by the Lord.
