Mr. Buff was preceded in death by his parents, George K. Buff and Annie Mae Mellon Buff; 5 brothers, George Buff, Jr., D.F. Buff, J.D. Buff, William Buff and Lester Buff; and 4 sisters, Ruby Talent, Doris Haskins, Pearl Watts, and Betty Friday.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janie Deaton Buff of the home; 1 son, Billy Joel Buff of the home; 1 daughter, Robin Sellers and husband Jerry of Cherryville; 1 sister, Sarah Buff and husband Vick Deaton of Mooresboro; 1 brother, Robert Buff of Shelby; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
