Billy “Preacher” Dee Turner
 Billy “Preacher” Dee Turner, age 76, of Caroleen, NC, died Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Hospice House.

     Billy was born on July 21, 1934 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Darvin D. Turner and Estelle Sisk Turner.  He worked for Broyhill Furniture for 25 years before his retirement and attended Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing and was known as a handy man who could fix about anything, but more than all he loved preaching God’s Word and telling others about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.   

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Turner.

     Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth “Lib” Turner of the home; two sons, Barry Turner of Caroleen and Marshall Turner and wife, Peggy of Forest City; one daughter, Sandy Turner Oliver and husband, Archie of Rutherfordton; five sisters, Margaret Head of Gastonia, Patsy Edwards and husband, Lewis of Shelby, NC, Myra Connor of Caroleen, Christine Hodge of Alexander Mills, Debra Coffey and husband, Tindale of Sandy Mush; five brothers, Herman Turner and wife, Nancy of Caroleen, Donald Turner of Alexander Mills, Frank Turner and wife, Helen of Caroleen, Brannon Turner and wife, Etta Mae of Caroleen, Broadus Turner and wife, Alleen of Mooresboro.  He is also survived by five grandchildren, Archie Dean Oliver II, Angelica Laurraine, William Raymond Turner, Rocky Turner, Keisha Duncan; six great-grandchildren, Austin Turner, Preston James, Sarah Duncan, Brock Duncan, Grace Turner and Katie Turner.

     Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend William Logan and Reverend Ed Ellison officiating.  Interment will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at the home of Frank and Helen Turner, 860 Kelly Road, Forest City, NC.
