Bobby Gene Biggers

Bobby Gene Biggers, age 82 passed away Friday June 6, 2014, with his family by his side at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. Born in Cleveland County on June 22, 1931 he was the son of the late J.R. and Ruby Jay Ellis Biggers. Bobby was a lifelong resident of Patterson Springs and was a 1949 graduate of Number Three High School. He was a member and served as property and grounds chairman of Patterson Springs Baptist Church, and attended Faith Baptist Church. He served on Patterson Springs Town Council since 1984 and was elected mayor in 1998 and served until present-day. He also served on the Board of Directors for Farmer’s Mutual Insurance and for over twenty years on the board of Number Three Volunteer Fire Department. He retired after 20 years of service from Fiber Industries where he worked as a foreman, then in purchasing as a buyer. He was the owner of Biggers Equipment for over thirty years selling new and used farm equipment. He loved to have a garden and raise tomatoes, corn, and turnips and then share his abundance with family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and listening to gospel music.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 63 years, Allalee Davis Biggers; a daughter, Randy Jean Biggers Carothers of Patterson Springs; a grandson, Chip Carothers and wife Dr. Katy of Columbia SC; two brothers, John E. Biggers (Nancy Wyatt) of Morehead City; Nelson Biggers (Linda Rollins) of  Shelby, Bill Davis (Ann) of Greenville SC; sister-in-law, Doris S. Davis of Lawndale, Special friends, Gordon and Faye Putnam, Ray Heffner, Myrtle and Bob Ridge, nieces and nephews, and Duke and King his dogs.

The family would like to thank  Dr. Mike Ribadeneyra, Jan Sexton, Terry and Amy of Shelby Medical Associates, and the 200-Hall of Cleveland Pines Nursing Staff.

Funeral services will be held on Monday June 9, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Patterson Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Waters, Rev. Priscilla Walker, and Rev. Johnny Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends in the sanctuary, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m, and other times the family will be at the home.
