Bobby Gene Camp

Bobby Gene Camp, 80, of Waco, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC.

He was born on January 18, 1941 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Robert Camp and the late Evangelist Larlee Epps Camp.

Bobby was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member his entire adult life and served as a trustee. He was also a member of Reciprocity Lodge No. 693 of the Masons. Bobby was a retired truck driver with Beam's Construction whom he was employed with for 40 years.

As a lover of sports, Bobby coached softball and basketball for many years and also was a baseball umpire. He was inducted into the Golden Bulls Hall of Fame. Bobby was a people person and was well known everywhere he went. He was a friendly, funny, loving person who always greeted you with a smile. He loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clora Baxter Camp; a son, Larry Baxter; three sisters, Frances Wright, Lucille Sweezy and Mary Lee Walker; a grandson, Chris Johnson; a great grandson, Caleb Miller; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his children;, Richard Baxter, Leroy Montgomery (Bertha), Larry Montgomery (Sonya) all of Cherryville, NC, Cassandra Davis (Wayne) of Shelby, NC, Linda Miller (Derrick) of Gastonia, NC and Gloria Wilson ( Joe) of Shelby; one brother, Henry Camp ( Jenny) of Shelby; three sisters, Dorothy Watkins of Waco, NC, Eloise Brown of Thomasville, NC and Betty Ann Keith (Lloyd) of High Point; a nephew who was like a son, Howard Camp of Cherryville; sixteen grandchildren, Chadler, Shawnta, Lisa, Allison, Cierra, Louis, Mario, Keyon, Kelsey, Krystal, Corey, Kenzley, Ashley who was raised in the home, Jovante, Joe, III, and Larry a host of great-grandchildren, three of which, Ashanti, Asia and Auston; one sister-in-law, Betty Jo Robbs of Kings Mountain, NC; one brother-in-law, Floyd Brown also of Kings Mountain and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Mr. Camp will be private. . The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel and other times at 1737-2 Stoney Point Road. He can be viewed from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, April 12, 2021 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel.
