Bobby J. “Bob” Ross

Mr. Bobby J. “Bob” Ross, 71, of 1405 Kings Rd. Shelby, NC retired from his earthly life to join his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 15, 2013 at 12:40pm, while in the care of Hospice in Cleveland County, NC.  He was born on December 18, 1941, in Cleveland County, NC to the late Mr. Marvin and Mrs. Ella Belle Hopper Ross.

      Mr. Ross was retired from Firestone/Griffin Brothers where he worked as a Tire Specialist for forty-nine years. Although he did not attend a regular Church, Mr. Ross was a Christian and he believed that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior. He was an avid watcher of TV Ministry.

     Mr. Bobby (Bob) Ross loved life and loved to talk junk with his family and friends. Although he was a private man he had many friends in the community who loved and admired him. Mr. Ross had a big heart and was always there for someone in need when he was able.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Ross was preceded in death by Mr. Marvin (June) Ross, Mr. Wade Lee Ross, Mr. L.D. Ross, Mr. Raymond Ross, Mrs. Ella Inez (Nutch) Williams and Mrs. Rose Ellen Leak.

     Left to mourn his loss and to treasure his memory are his four children Mr. Fredrick S. Byers of Shelby, NC; Ms. Bruvoynia J. Byers of Shelby, NC; Ms. Frances S. Byers of Charlotte, NC and Mr. Dunsey L. Harper of Shelby, NC. Mr. Bobby Ross had a very dear friend, Mrs. Gertrude H. Byers, who is the mother of three of his four children. Mr. Ross has three wonderful and loving grandchildren, Whitney Harper of Shelby, NC; Nicholas J. Byers of Charlotte, NC and Johnathon V. McCraw of Shelby, NC; two brothers, Minister Luther Ross (Marie) of Charlotte, NC and Mr. Andrew Ross of Shelby, NC; two sisters, Ms. Jessie Mae Littlejohn and Ms. Minnie Lee Wilson both of Shelby, NC and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

     Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Palmer Grove Baptist Church with Pastor James L. Smith officiating and Pastor Michael Isaac delivering the eulogy.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM at the church on Tuesday and at other times at the home of his daughter, Bruvoynia Byers, 901 Newhouse Rd.
