Brenda LeNora Williams Godfrey, 70, of 208 West Carolina Street, Apt E-26, passed away Saturday, March 29th, 2014, at Peachtree Centre.
Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Williams and Fairey Williams Sentell. Mrs. Godfrey retired from Nestle and was a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Godfrey are one daughter, Sherrie Sentell Spake, of Gaffney; one sister, Elaine Williams, of Chesnee; two grandchildren, Johnathan Rice and wife, Kelli, of Gaffney and Shannon Rice and fiancé, Sabrina Fort, of Newport, TN; one great-grandson, Lucian Keith Rice; two nephews, Larry Dean Williams and wife, Candy, of Gaffney and Danny Hammett of Chesnee; and three nieces, Debra Godfrey and husband, Eddie, of Gaffney; Lisa Majeski and husband, David, of Woodbridge, VA, and Denise Dickson and husband, Roger, of Gaffney.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Godfrey was preceded in death by one son, Jamie Godfrey; two brothers, Melvin and Dale Williams; one sister, Betty Carolyn Hammett; and one nephew, Terry Hammett.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1st, 2014 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the home of Johnathan and Kelli Rice. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014, at 4:00 pm at Cherokee Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Lucky Earls, Rev. Gregg Martin, and Rev. Joel Phillips officiating. Eddie Godfrey, David Majeski, Buddy Ligon, and Roger Dickson will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Brenda Godfrey Funeral Fund, c/o Gordon Mortuary, PO Box 428, Blacksburg, SC 29702.
The family will be at the home of Johnathan and Kelli Rice, 2040 McKowns Mountain Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.
