Bruce Dennis Long, age 65, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Peak Resources in Shelby. He was born on April 12, 1951 in Pottstown, PA. HHe is the son of the late Joseph Donald and Alma Baus Long. Bruce was a tractor trailer driver for over 30 years with R&L Carriers. Bruce loved sports and was very much a people person. Bruce was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church where he served on the Property Committee. Bruce served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.

In addition to his parents, Bruce is preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Long, Larry Long, Gerald Long, and two sisters, Darlene Long and Jean Long.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Karen Schulz Long; one son Jason Long and his wife Samantha of Brooksville, FL; and one daughter, Janet Long of Gainesville, GA; his aunt, Myrtle Lisko of Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Gianetta Long and Angelina Long.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 am at Ascension Lutheran Church in Shelby and will be officiated by Rev. Christina Auch. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium, with military honors. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
