Burl Kenneth Martin, 78 of Flat Rock Road, Lincolnton, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at his residence.

Born in Lincoln County, on September 21, 1945, he was the son of the late Rev. A.W. Martin and Ada Proctor Martin. Burl was retired from the NC Department of Transportation and was a member of Harvest Times Assembly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee Shalp Martin; six brothers, James, Andrew, Nickson, Frank and Charles Martin and a sister, Willie Sain.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Burl Martin and wife, Angie of Cherryville and James Cody of Shelby; three daughters, Jeannie Lail and husband, Thomas of Waco, Innette Sisk and husband, Tony of Bessemer City and Donna Shannon and husband, Ricky of Lincolnton; a brother, Lester Martin of Vale; a sister, Betty Craig of Vale; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Johnson officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Martin Cemetery.
