Burleens "Lena" Eaker Whisnant
 Ms. Burleens "Lena" Eaker Whisnant, 72, of 4517 Polkville Rd. died Friday March 4, 2011 at White Oak Manor in Shelby.

 

Born in Cleveland County on September 19, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Lee Eaker and Bessie Proctor Eaker. She was a clerk for Polkville Petroleum and a member of Polkville United Methodist Church.

 

Survivors include two sons, Richard Whisnant Jr. and wife Loretta of Lawndale and Robert Whisnant of Polkville, daughter Suzanne Walker and husband Philip of Shelby, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Garland & Edith Eaker of Hickory and Gene & Peggy Eaker of Lawndale, four sisters, Mary Eaker of Lawndale, Selma White of Morganton, Dorothy Hendrick and husband Hal of Shelby, and Wilma Towery and husband Ray of Lattimore, four grandchildren, Emily Walker, Matthew Whisnant and wife Jill, Danielle Walker, and James Walker, and one great grandchild, Hayden Walker.

 

A special thanks to the White Oak Manor Staff and to Lena's  friends.

 

Visitation will be 5:00  to 7:00 PM  Saturday at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.  A guest register is available atwww.stameyfuneralhome.com.

 

The funeral will be held at Polkville United Methodist Church 3:00   PM Sunday with Rev. William Lovelace, Rev. David Lee and Rev. Tim Hendrick officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.

 

Burial will follow in the Polkville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
