Butch Johnson

Butch Johnson, age 64, of Henrietta, died Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at his residence.

Born November 2, 1950 in Henderson County, NC, he was a son of the late Leon Johnson and Nancy Stringer Moore. He was a graduate of R-S Central High School; class of 1968 and Isothermal Community College. Butch was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam War. Butch worked for Cone Mills for twenty-five years and then for Hamricks Fabrics for many years as a supervisor. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church where he taught the Men's Sunday School Class and a 3rd degree Mason at the Cliffside Masonic Lodge #460. Butch enjoyed fishing, studying his Bible and writing. He was a good hearted man who was always willing to help others. He loved his family dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Damien Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Mae Johnson; step-father, Ronald Gene Moore and wife, Iris of Mooresboro; two sons, Kevin Johnson II and wife, Renee of Cliffside and Kenny Johnson and wife, Lydia Haynes of Cowpens; three daughters, Karen Stirewalt and husband, Lee of Salisbury, Kim Smith and husband, Tommy of Henrietta and April Johnson of Harris; step-son, James Lee Moore and wife, Libby of Pacolet, SC; one brother, Roger Johnson and wife, Debbie of Hickory; three sisters, Brenda Worley and husband, Chuck of Henrietta, Barbara Gaida of Lawndale and Kay Meeler and husband, Tony of Georgia and half-brother, Jim Bob Connor and wife, Roni of Cliffside. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and special family friends, Judy Gibson, Beth Black and Carolyn Dollar.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 in the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Tommy Carver officiating. Masonic Rites will be accorded by the Cliffside Lodge and Military Honors will be provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
