KINGS MOUNTAIN: Calvin Lee Humphries, 77, died Monday, July 4, 2022 at Atrium Health Kings Mountain. Born in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Laney Foster Humphries. Calvin worked at Parker Hannifin for many years, later retiring from Freightliner. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was active in the David McCall Sunday school class. He was a bible scholar, enjoyed reading, gardening, tending to his dogs. And being with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Leigh Ann Humphries. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Styers Humphries, of the home; sons, John Humphries and wife Kristy and Michael Humphries, both of Kings Mountain; sister, Geraldine Parker of Kings Mountain; brothers, Phillip Humphries and wife Linda of Cramer Mountain, Roger Humphries of Gastonia and James Eade Humphries and wife Kathy of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Mikayla Davis and husband Billy and Zach Humphries; and greatgrandchildren, Andrew and Savannah Davis. The family will receive friends 6-8:00PM, Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Kings Mountain. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, July 7, 2022 at First Baptist Church Kings Mountain, with the Rev. Shane Doty officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
