| Mr. Carl Thomas Dover Sr., age 96, of Shelby, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at his residence. A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of the late Robert M. Dover and Rebeca J. Lowery Dover. Mr. Dover had worked as a supervisor at Dover Mill for more than 40 years. He loved cutting grass and scrapping. Mr. Dover served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of Dover Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Agnes Rice Dover; four brothers, Robert Dover Jr., W.T. Dover, Hugh Dover, and Brady Dover; one sister, Ruby Ponder.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Dover and wife Cindy of Shelby and Tom Dover and wife Bert of Williamston, NC; four grandchildren, Casey Dover Peeler and husband Billy of Shelby, Pam Dover Baldwin and husband Brad of Thomasville, NC., Miles Dover and wife Nancy of Hubert, NC., and Kenton Dover and wife Maria of Durham; three great grandchildren, Carlee Peeler, Merit Baldwin, and Maeve Baldwin.
Funeral Service: Dover Baptist Church, Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
Visitation: The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Burial: Cleveland Memorial Park Mausoleum, Monday.
