Carl Varner
Blacksburg -- Carl  Varner, 87, of 506 Oak Grove Road, Blacksburg, passed away Monday, February 18th, 2013 at his residence.
 
Born in Gaffney, Mr. Varner was the widower of Sarah Ruth Thompson Varner and the son of the late Frank Varner and Inez West Varner.  He worked as a weaver in the textile industry and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army.
 
In addition to his wife, Mr. Varner is survived by seven brothers, Marshall Varner, Winford Varner, Walter Varner, James Varner, Charlie Varner, Wilburn Varner, and David Varner, all of Blacksburg and one sister, Etheleen Varner of Blacksburg. He was preceded in death by brothers Ervin, Algie, Fred, and Luther Varner and sister Ferleen Varner.
 
The family will receive friends at the home. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 20th, at 11:00am at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Hicks officiating.
 
The family will be at their respective residences.
