Timmira Hardie of James Love Elementary’s Communities in Schools afterschool homework club has a simply amazing voice, especially since she is a 4th grader who writes her own songs.  When asked, “What inspired you to sing?,” Timmira states:

“We I was little, I lived in a big brick house and me and my daddy loved to go to church and I loved to sing on the choir.  We went everyday to praise God and thank Him for all He has given us.   When my Dad used to get up to sing his voice was low and when he sang it inspired me to be just like my dad.”

Since the age of 5, Timmira sang with her sister and friends.  In January, I challenged her to write a song.  She stopped me in the hall one day and sang her original composition about two girls who grew up as friends and how the relationship drifted apart.  The song bring them back together and they realize that the truly care about and love each other.

Read Timmira’s advice for students who want to pursue music:

“Keep your head up, follow your dreams, and when you grow up, you might be somebody and always think back about what you have been taught and what you have learned.”
