This week ends the submission deadline for the Kid Needz CD Songwriting Contest for Tanner Denton. From January to April of this year, songwriters and music enthusiasts put their gifts to work to help a little boy who is in need of a kidney transplant due to FSGS, a rare disease he has had since age 3. Since then, the community exploded with generosity and compassion for Tanner. By raising awareness of Tanner’s condition, this contest brought us together through music and the spirit of love. It brings a tear to my eye to know that the hearts and minds of musicians all over the United States have embraced the concept that ‘music can change the world.’ Moreover, TANNER IS NOW ON THE KIDNEY TRANSPLANT LIST!!! So where do we go from here? Now it is time to record and produce a CD. Half of the album will feature established songwriters, both local and afar, who have contributed positive and uplifting music for Tanner as well as other kids going through similar issues. Another half of the album will feature productions by the winners of the songwriting contest. Now, I implore YOUR help. After producing the music, you can ‘print’ it to a CD. Our next goal is to raise the funds necessary to make sure that we can manufacture enough CDs to make a difference in Tanner’s life. If you feel like this is your calling or your way to contribute to a good cause, we are taking online donations to go directly toward the manufacturing process. Go to www.songharper.com and click on the yellow donate button. You can use a variety of payment methods including PayPal to donate money that will go directly to helping us print the CDs. Donations over 25$ will include special recognition on the album and more exclusive benefits. All the proceeds from this endeavor will go to help the Denton family with medicine, medical bills, etc. Let’s change the world with music, one song at a time!
