Open Mic Night has a NEW time! Now every Thursday evening from 8-11pm you can enjoy live music provided by the public. That’s people like you and me! We set up an intimate corner of the restaurant with a small pa, chairs, and brave musical souls to provide you with some live entertainment.

We welcome participants of all ages, races, creeds, and cultures. Having seen everything from a sextet of GWU opera singers doing an accapella version of Katy Perry’s “Firework” to the guitar styling’s of Cleveland County’s heavy metal heads, Mourning Glory. We have had sit-ins from 9 year old djembe players all the way to 81 year old guitar players. No one is too young or too old (and we can play a pretty funky version of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” if you want to bring your next Kindergarten American Idol)
If you’re lucky you can catch Cherryville’s very own country guitar master, Jim McCoury. His special guitar arrangements blend bass lines, chords and melody ALL AT THE SAME TIME! It is a truly amazing experience to see his fingers fly up and down the fretboard as his thumb thumps away an alternating bassline. An Army veteran, serving with the infantry, Jim McCoury shared the stage with country music stars such as Roy Acuff and Loretta Lynn.

Fall back into playing live music and come join us for some fun. Singers and songwriters bring your original stuff and try it out on a new crowd. All we really ask is that you respect the family environment and people’s ears by leaving your profanity at home. Open Mic Night is every Thursday from 8-11pm at Applebee’s of Shelby. (NO OPEN MIC ON THANKSGIVING)
