Cathie Lou Cook
Cathie Lou Cook, 99, of Casar passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at her home.

A native of Cleveland County, she was born on March 7, 1915 to the late Tinsley Buff and Laura Buff Toney.  Cathie Lou graduated from Banoak High School, Catawba County in 1933.  She was a homemaker and a prayer warrior that believed God kept her on earth to pray for others.  Cathie Lou was a long time member of Pisgah Baptist Church in Casar.  She loved reading Guideposts, studying her Sunday school lesson, and singing hymns.  Cathie Lou also enjoyed crocheting, reading, and gardening.

In addition to her parents, Cathie Lou was preceded in death by husband Howard Cook, daughter Charlsie Mae, son Thomas Cook, daughter-in-law Darlene Cook, and great grandson Jack Smith.

Survivors include four sons: Jimmy Cook and wife Anne, of Casar; Boyd Cook, of Claremont; Dean Cook and wife Patsy, of Casar; and Jack Cook and wife Sharon, of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Jean Cody and husband Frank, of Iron Station, and daughter-in-law  Marilyn Cook of Tucson, Arizona.  She is survived by eleven grandchildren: Howard Cody, Jennifer Walker, Brian Cook, Elizabeth Sanders, Anita Smith, Ereck Cook, Deitra Attaway, Travis Cook, Bailey Smith, Michael Cook and Paula Kehoe, and 14 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to caregivers Wanda Buff, Carolyn Hudson, Renee Craig, Patty Poole, Evelyn Willis, Elvie Hudson, Kay Newton, Care Solutions and Cleveland County Hospice.  


Visitation: 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, Pisgah Baptist Church, Casar and other times at her home.   Condolences may be made online at

Funeral Services: 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Pisgah Baptist Church sanctuary.

Officiating: Revs. Glenn Kerstetter and Joe Edwards

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pisgah Baptist Church, PO Box 388, Casar, NC 28020.
