Cattleman's Conference is February 22-24

If you love cows and want to learn more about the cattle industry, the NC Cattlemen's Conference is an event not to be missed! Cattlemen from all over the state will be gathered for meetings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 22-24. The conference will be held at the Hickory Metro Convention Center, located just east of 1-40 Exit 125 and accessible from Hwy 70. Full details about the conference are available at www.nccattle.com.
On Saturday morning, all youth are encouraged to attend from 9 a.m. until 12 noon for a series of special demonstrations and learning activities. Booths, competitive quizzes, and equipment demonstrations will all be held under one roof. Attendees will get to see a cow being milked, observe how drones are being used around cattle and in pastures, learn about coyotes and other predators, and how farmers use artificial insemination to breed cows. Hands-on activities include putting together the ruminant digestive tract of a model cow, and playing with temporary fencing equipment that assists cattlemen in movement and control of cattle... a lot of fun things to see and do.
The cost for youth participants on Saturday morning is only $5, but mention The Shelby Shopper & Info to the ticket sales person, and each youth with you will receive a free pass into the showroom. The cost for adults on Saturday is only $10 per person.
If you are interested in cattle, this is a great place to meet others and to learn some of the latest information cattlemen are using to manage their herds.
Remember when purchasing your tickets, if you mention that you saw this information in this paper, your youth will get a FREE pass to the Saturday morning events!
