Charles Dennis Strait, 75, 1147 S. Charleston Street, Blacksburg, SC, died July 14, 2015, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. He is the husband of Carolyn T. Strait of the home. Born in Granby, Missouri, he was a son of the late Virgil Lawrence and Ora Wilma Shewmake Strait. He loved his Lord, his family, his church and his church family.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn, he is survived by one son - Randall Scott Strait and wife, Christy, of Gastonia, NC; three daughters - Phyliss Wright Martin and husband, Eddie, of Diamond, MO, Linda Wright Boese of Waldorf, MD, and Tammy Wright McGonigal and husband, Bill, of Blacksburg, SC; one brother - Wilbur Lee Strait of Granby, Missouri; six grandchildren - Reanna Marie Strait of Joplin, MO, Steven Kyle Martin and wife, Bethany, of Parsons, KS, Brittany Harvey Ramey and husband, Josh, of Blacksburg, SC, Leah Marie Martin of Diamond, MO, DJ McGonigal and wife, Heather, of Blacksburg, SC, and Jessalyn Nicole Boese of Waldorf, MD; and two great-grandsons - Gary Evan Martin and Clark Avery Martin both of Parsons, KS. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son - Denny Joe Strait, and one brother - Jimmy Douglas Strait.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 16, 2015, from 6-8:00 PM, at White Columns, Blacksburg, SC. A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Friday, July 17, 2015, 10:00 AM, at Love Valley, Kings Mountain, NC, with Rev. Barry Philbeck officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens, Blacksburg, SC. At other times, the family will be at the home.
Pallbearers serving are Eddie Martin, Bill McGonigal, Kyle Martin, DJ McGonigal, Nathan Hurdt and Josh Ramey.
