Charles Herchell Moses
 Charles Herchell Moses, 71, of 105 Crestview Lane, Morganton, passed away,
Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

Herchell was born in Lincoln County on November 12, 1942.  He was a longtime
mason.  He was employed throughout his life by area oil companies including,
Lutz-Yelton Oil Company, Petroleum World, Beall Oil Company, and various
others in his career.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Grayson Moses and father,
Joshua Perry Moses.

He is survived by his mother, Estelle Moses Lowrance and husband Lawrence of
Lawndale; son, Karl Moses and wife Tamara of Shelby; daughter Karen Hodges
and husband Lee of Ruffin; granddaughter Savannah Hodges of Ruffin; brother,
Alfred Moses of Lawndale; two sisters, Martha Evans and Zonia McIntyre both
of Shelby.  Herchell was a dog lover but was especially fond of his
companion Max.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at
Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.  Condolences may be made online at

The family will have a private graveside service at Big Springs Baptist
Church Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Scott officiating.

Memorials may be made to a Humane Society of the donors choice.
