Charlie M. “Chuck” Smith Jr.
 Mr. Charlie M. “Chuck” Smith Jr., 67, of 4348 W. Dixon Blvd., died Thurs., Sept. 8, 2011 at Carolina’s Medical Center.  A native of Cleveland Co. he was the son of the late Charlie Sr. and Bonnie Greene Smith.  He retired from the Navy after 29 years, where he served in Vietnam, Korean Conflict, and was called to active duty for Desert Storm and to Norfolk, VA during 9/11.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He was a member of the Old Hickory Gun Club, which he operated for many years, and the Old Hickory Cowboy Club where he was known as the Bostic Kid.  He was a graduate of Gardner-Webb and was a devoted member of Davidson Memorial Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher for the adult class.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Carlon.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lillian Davis Smith, of the home; son, Ronnie Smith of Shelby; brother, George Franklin Smith and wife Denise of Boiling Springs; grandson, Jason Smith and wife Alisha of Fallson; three granddaughters, Kari, Makayla, and Hannah Smith.

SERVICES: 3pm, Monday at Davidson Memorial Baptist Church

VISITATION: Sunday, 6-9pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at his home.

BURIAL: Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors
