Charlie Rogers
Charles Leabron Rogers, Sr., 61 passed away at home surrounded by his family
Sunday, April 28, after a courageous 32 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
And now Charlie is walking with Jesus.

Born on March 12, 1952, Charlie was the son of Ernest L. Rogers and the late
Arzie Blanton Rogers.  Charlie was a dedicated member of Zoar Baptist
Church.  He served as deacon and was faithful in any way called upon.  More
than anything, Charlie loved the Lord and it showed in everything he did and
said.  He had such a love for everybody and treated everyone fairly.  His
unfailing willingness to help alcoholics was always present.  Charlie never
complained with the pain he endured through his illness, instead lifted
others up, usually through his sense of humor.  One of the greatest joys in
his life was his two granddaughters, Alyssa and Savannah, Papa Charlie or
Buddy-ro as they called him.  There was never a more loving husband, father,
grandfather or friend.  Charlie was a natural born entrepreneur.  His first
passion was automobiles.  He worked in his family business, Rogers Cadillac,
for over 25 years.  Later he began Rogers Properties.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara Spangler Rogers;
sons, Charles L. Rogers, Jr. (Chuck) and, Kelly of Shelby; William Ernest
Rogers (Ernie) of Chapel Hill; father, Ernest L. Rogers and stepmother,
Catherine; brother, E. Patrick Rogers and wife, Rita; granddaughters, Alyssa
and Savannah Rogers; niece, Aimee Rogers Thomas and husband, Jay; special
-in-laws, Mama Sue and Pa Spangler.

Many loving thanks to our Zoar Baptist Church family, Hospice caregivers and
everyone who lovingly cared for Charlie.
