Charlie Whisnant Elliott

Charlie Whisnant Elliott, 92, died January 27, 2015. He was a lifelong resident of Charlie Elliott Road in the Polkville Community. He was a retired truck driver with Carolina Freight, and his passion was farming. His farming career encompassed dairy farming, cotton farming and hog farming. He was known by many as the operator of Elliott's Strawberry Patch and for his generosity in sharing his produce.

Mr. Elliott was a veteran of World War II and he served as a member of the U S Navy in the South Pacific Theatre. He was also a former Justice of the Peace in Polkville, NC.

He is survived by wife, Janie Everette Elliott, of Gallatin, Tennessee, a daughter, Jane Elliott Kotsionis of Winston Salem, a son and daughter-in- law Charlie Jr. and Diane Elliott of Greensboro, grandchildren Courtney Kotsionis, Cami Plagianis, Carey Kotsionis, Caroline Boumeester, and Clayton Elliott as well as three great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Elliott of Greensboro, and two brothers, John Elliott and Thomas Elliott of Cleveland County. He was preceded in death by wife, Ada Grigg Elliott and his parents Fannie Whisnant Elliott and John Paxton Elliott, a sister, Mary Belle Elliott, a brother, Robert Elliott, a son-in-law, Harvey Kotsionis and a grandson, Clinton Elliott.

He was an admired father, grandfather, great grandfather, neighbor and a longtime member of Union Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM at Union Baptist Church on Thursday, January 29th and the funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow at Elliott's Cemetery in Polkville, NC.
