Charlie William Blackwell
The Reverend Charlie William Blackwell, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 6:50pm. Charlie was a retired Southern Baptist Minister. He pastored Harmon Street Baptist Church in Forest City for a total of 25 years, Fontaine Baptist Church in Martinsville, VA for 5 years. Union Mills Baptist Church in Union Mills, NC and came out of retirement to pastor Camps Creek Baptist Church in Mooresboro for 5 years. He did supply work at Cliffside Baptist Church, State Line Baptist Church of Gaffney, and Montfords Cove Baptist Church, each for two terms. He then filled in at numerous churches and revivals. He preached his last sermon at the church he is currently a member of, Piney Knob Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, N.C.
 
Charlie was born on May 01, 1928, to Joe and Lillie Sprouse Blackwell of Chesnee, S.C. He had five brothers and three sisters. He was the last living relative of his family. His brothers and sisters were, Ciscero, Elijah, Webster, Jonah and Horace, Cleo Blackwell, Mae Price, and Eva Early.
 
Charlie married Ruth Robinson Blackwell. They were married for 57 years. They had two daughters, Sandra Frazier and Tammy Wilson. Ruth and Sandra have went home to be with the Lord.
 
He is survived by his second wife of 7 years, Mary Ann Forbes Blackwell; one daughter, Tammy Wilson of South Carolina; a stepson, Joey Forbes and wife Rhonda of Gainesville, GA; his grandchildren, Shawn Frazier, Seth DesKin, Michael Wilson, Trey Wilson and Joshua Forbes; his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Peyton, Issabel and Cole.
 
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Piney Knob Baptist Church of Gilkey with the Rev. Mike Brown, Rev. Jerry Campbell and Rev. Brent Frady officiating. Special speaker will be Curtis Jones. Burial will follow at 11:00am on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Gardens of Gaffney. Rev. Joey Cantrell will officiate the Graveside Services. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm-9:00pm on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Cliffside Baptist Church Sanctuary.
