Charlie Young Banning, 74, of Rutherfordton, died April 10, 2016 at his home. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Fred and Virginia Cole Banning. He was a greens superintendent for a golf course, was of the Baptist faith, and a US Army veteran.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Millie Jane Blake Banning of the home; sons, Charles Ray Banning and David Banning of Rutherfordton; daughter, Anita Marlow of Bostic; seven grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren and four great great grandchildren; sister Jean Keyser of Lancaster, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Joe, Jim, and Marshall Banning.

At Charlie's request, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
