Cindy Lee Ray, 52, 1416 Possum Trot Road, Blacksburg, SC, died unexpectedly April 3, 2014, at home. Born in Shelby, NC, she is the wife of John J. Ray of the home and a daughter of the late Joe and Reba Pruitt Fortenberry. Cindy was a LPN and a former member of Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church. Cindy was happiest when helping other people. She loved to fish. When she was younger she enjoyed riding horses.
Left to cherish her memory, in addition to her husband, John, are three sisters - Robyn Fortenberry and Amanda F. Talley both of Grover, NC, and Della F. Childers of Kings Mountain, NC; and aunts - Faye Kidd of Shelby, NC, Judy Ross of Fallston, NC, Jeanette Costner of Taylors, SC, Catherine Fortenberry and Joyce Fortenberry.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6-7:30 PM , at White Columns Funeral Service. A Celebration Of LIfe Service will be held Monday, April 7, 2014, 3:00 PM , with Rev. Todd Bolin officiating. Burial will follow at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery. Following the services Monday, the family will gather at the home of Timmy and Mary Allen, 113 Sara Lane, Grover, NC. At other times, they will be at the home.
