Clarence David Jay Jr. age 57 died Tuesday June 10, 2014 at his home. Born in Cleveland County on December 15, 1956 he was the son of Margaret Beheler Jay and the late Clarence David Jay Sr.  David was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a gun enthusiast and was a member of the NRA. David retired from Owens-Minor Trucking of Kings Mountain due to declining health. He never met a stranger and loved being around people and his family. He loved the four “C’s”:  Corvettes, Camping, Cars and Cathy. In addition to his father, David is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence Porter Jay and Myrtle Adams Jay and E. R. Beheler and Millie Lee Beheler.

David is survived by his wife Cathy Price Jay; a sister, Patty Jay Philbeck and husband Mike of Shelby; sister-in-law, Ginger P. Moss of Shelby; Step-Daughters, Amy R. Wallace and husband Bo of Linwood, Jeannie Dowell of Shelby, and Emily Dowell of the home; Father-in-law, Jack Gardner of Shelby; Step grandchildren, Grace Pearson, Hailey Wallace, Bo Wallace Jr., Jordan Hall, and Brandon Wallace; Nieces and Nephews, Janet Philbeck Ritter and husband Brian, Meghan Ritter, Lauren Ritter, Jonathan Philbeck and wife Jennifer, David Philbeck, Joshua Philbeck and fiancée Madeline Frye, Jayson Philbeck and wife Emily; and his faithful companion,  Taco.

Funeral service will be held on Friday June 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Perry Holloman and Rev. Allen Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. an hour before the service.
