Mr. Claude Gillie Atkinson, 77, of Mooresboro, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. A native of Mooresboro, he was the loving husband to Sarah Leach Atkinson and the son of the late James Oliver Atkinson and Ivy Louella Allen Atkinson. He retired from John H. Montgomery Mills, was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church-Cleveland and he enjoyed tending to his 50-acre farm.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Robbins and son in-law, Donald Robbins; brother, Allen Atkinson of Boiling Springs, SC; and sister, Peggy Elliott of Caroleen.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Amanda Stancil and Eunice Poteat.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church-Cleveland with Rev. Kevin Hamrick officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence during this time.
