| Clayton Allen Singleton, 95, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. A native of Oconee County in South Carolina, he was the son of the late Miles and Eula McAlister Singleton. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 72 ½ years, Dora Singleton, and brothers, Harold, Jack and James Singleton. Mr. Singleton retired from Sonny Hancock Chevrolet in Gastonia where he was a body mechanic. He served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in England and France and served in the Air Core during WWII. He loved gardening, working in his yard and fishing.
Mr. Singleton is survived by his son, Don Allen of Clemmons, NC; daughter, Diane Singleton of Shelby; sisters, Margie Norwood of Clemmons, NC and Jonell Beatty and husband Jack of Gastonia, NC; grandson, Michael Adam Singleton of Clemmons, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. The Rev. Leland Kerr will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
