Clyde Covington Fesperman Jr.

Mr. Clyde Covington Fesperman Jr., 89, died on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Brookdale of Shelby. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Pless Fesperman, his father, Clyde Covington Fesperman, Sr. and mother, Faye Stearns Fesperman.

Born November 21, 1925 in Charlotte, he attended Central High School and upon graduation, served as an aviation cadet in World War II. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in civil engineering. Upon moving to Shelby, Clyde successfully designed many projects, most notably the chairlifts at Tweetsie Railroad and Beech Mountain while working for Goforth Brothers. He later started his own business.

He was a member of Shelby Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, and pulling for the Wolfpack.

He is survived by daughter Martha and Bill Noblitt, son Mike, daughter Jan and Richard Dedmon, and daughter Neal and Mark Binion. Clyde is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Kirby Crotts (Andy), Sally Barnett (Cam), William Noblitt (Kathryn), Will Dedmon (Leigh-Ervin), Molly Dedmon, Elizabeth Binion (fiancée Matthew Hilker), Rob Binion and Meg Binion as well as nine great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Brookdale for all their love, support, and kindness.

Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Sunday, Shelby Presbyterian Church

Visitation: The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Burial: Private
