Clyde E. Jones, age 78, of Ellenboro, NC, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Clyde was born November 22, 1934 in Rutherford County to the late Gordon Andrew Jones and Pansy Lovelace Jones. He was a graduate of Ellenboro High School, class of 1953 and served in the US Army from 1957 until 1961. Clyde was the owner and operator of Family Hair Care and was a barber/cosmetologist for over fifty-five years. He enjoyed reading and had a love for music. He was a gifted musician who could play a vast array of instruments which included the guitar, banjo, piano and harmonica. He was a lifetime member of Bethel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Corbett Gordon Jones.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost fifty-four years, Freda Burgess Jones; sister, Nellene Jones Whitaker of Ellenboro; brother, Charles Glenn Jones and wife, Georgia of Granite Shoals, Texas; two sister in-laws, Catherine Street and husband, Randy of Shelby, NC and Jane Burgess Ayres of Ellenboro. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Sepaugh and Dr. Wayne Blackwood officiating. Interment will follow in the church with cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center one hour prior to service time.
