Ms. Cynthia Johnson, 65, of 322 Buffalo St. Shelby, NC departed this life on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at her residence.  She was born on March 12, 1948 in Cleveland County to the late Dorothy Johnson Greene and the late Donald Hicks.

She joined Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age. After moving to Chadburn, NC she attended Stephens Baptist Church and while in Chadburn attended West Side High School where she was in band, chorus and played basketball.  She moved back to Shelby her senior year and graduated from Shelby High School.

Her employment included Fiber Industries as a cook and later as a C.N.A.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Pauline Johnson Hood and Broadus Johnson.

Left to cherish her memory are one aunt, Ethel Johnson of Whiteville, NC; her cousins, Barbara Johnson-Cook of New York, New York, John C. Johnson (Gloria) of Shelby, Lewis Johnson (Jane) of Elizabethtown, NC, Deneen Hare (Ronald) of Charlotte, NC, Paulette Johnson of Gastonia, NC, James Johnson (Liz) of Whiteville, Teresa Autry (Eugene) of Rocky Point, NC and Joclyn Peeler (Boyd Lee) of Shelby; special friend, Essie Patterson of Shelby and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:00 PM.  Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloes.net.  Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
